This week, our directors, Charlie Russell , Sarah Russell, Paul Fewins and Anita Fewins, had the privilege of attending the official opening of the Dartford Larder, an exciting new initiative designed to support the local community in Dartford.
The Dartford Larder is a new social supermarket, created as a collaboration between Dartford Borough Council Crossways Community Church, and the Healthy Living Centre. The project has been made possible with support from various partners, including the UK Government's Household Support Fund, Big Local, and many businesses in Dartford, including Russell Fewins. We’re proud to be involved in such an impactful project.
What is Dartford Larder?
The aim of Dartford Larder is simple: to provide affordable groceries and wraparound support to those in need while offering educational opportunities that help empower individuals and families. It’s more than just a place to shop, it’s a space for people to learn how to cook and prepare meals, with volunteers providing cooking classes and nutrition advice.
When visitors arrive, they are welcomed by a friendly team member who will help them either sign up or check in for their visit. This ensures a smooth experience every time.
Building a Stronger Community
The Dartford Larder initiative focuses on providing support that helps individuals achieve greater independence and stability. By giving people access to nutritious food, alongside valuable skills like cooking and budgeting, the project aims to reduce reliance on emergency food aid while building a stronger, more resilient community.
It’s about creating a supportive environment where local people can come together, gain confidence, and learn new skills to help them thrive. The Larder also helps individuals and families connect with other community resources, ensuring they have the tools to lead more independent, healthy lives.
Russell Fewins’ Contribution
At Russell Fewins, we’re deeply committed to supporting our community and helping initiatives that foster positive change. For Dartford Larder, Our Directors Said...
We were delighted to contribute by donating all the soft seating, tables, and chairs, all of which came from various clients who generously offered items for repurposing. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see these items being put to good use in such an important project, providing comfort and support to those who visit Dartford Larder. Our team was excited to be part of this journey, contributing to a community space that will play a vital role for many years to come.
A Vision for the Future
As the Dartford Larder officially opens its doors, it marks the beginning of a positive change for the community. We’re thrilled to have played a small part in this transformation, and we look forward to seeing the lasting impact it will have on local families.
Supporting projects like these is part of our core values at Russell Fewins. We’re all about making a difference- whether it’s through our office relocations or contributing to charitable causes- and we’re proud to see the Dartford Larder take its place as a beacon of community support.
We’d like to extend our congratulations to the entire team behind Dartford Larder, from the volunteers to the partners and supporters, for their hard work and dedication. We look forward to seeing the many lives this project will continue to impact for years to come.
And if you would like to donate any unused office furniture or equipment, please reach out to us regarding our donation and recycling services.
