Why ISO certification matters when you choose a relocation partner

By Charlie Russell, Commercial Director
Choosing a relocation partner is about finding a team you can trust to make the process as smooth and straightforward as possible. While the move itself is the most visible part of the process, much of the work that ensures everything runs smoothly takes place well in advance.
So, how can you feel confident that your chosen partner will deliver the service you expect? Client references are a great starting point, while independent certification provides valuable additional reassurance by demonstrating that your chosen provider consistently follows recognised standards and established processes in the way it operates.
We have recently been recertified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. I want to thank our team and to explain what these standards mean for you as a client.
ISO 9001: the plan is followed, not improvised
ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management. It requires a business to set out how it works and then show, through regular external audits, that it works that way in practice.
For a relocation, this covers how the site survey is carried out, how the plan is recorded, who is responsible for each stage and how changes are agreed. When your move is planned within a certified system, the detail lives in the process, not in one person’s head.
It also helps your own organisation. If you work to ISO 9001 yourselves, you are expected to manage the quality of the suppliers you bring in. A certified partner makes that easier to evidence.
ISO 14001: knowing where your furniture goes
ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management. For a relocation business, the biggest environmental question is waste. An office move or clearance can leave a large volume of furniture, fittings and equipment behind.
Working within ISO 14001 means we plan what happens to it from the start. Where furniture can be reused, redistributed or recycled, it is built into the project and we provide a paper trail showing where it went.
That record matters more every year. If your organisation reports on sustainability, or works to ISO 14001 itself, you need evidence of how your waste was handled. You cannot rely on “it was taken away”.
Four questions to ask any relocation partner
Whoever you are speaking to, these questions will tell you a great deal:
Is your certification current and which services does it cover?
How is the plan for my move recorded and shared with me?
What happens to the furniture and equipment we no longer need and what evidence will I receive?
Who is accountable for the project from survey to completion?
Every day, not only on audit day
An audit is a snapshot. What our clients rely on is how we work on every job in between. We were founded in 1998 and are still led by the people who started the business. Holding these standards year after year matters to all of us.
It has been a year of recognition for the team. Alongside our recertification, we were named Company of the Year 2026 at the Workplace Relocation Group Awards and Winner of Best Owner Managed Business at the Dartford Business Awards 2026.
If you are planning a relocation, clearance or refurbishment for 2027, we would love to talk it through. We start with a site survey, then build a plan around your timings, your building and your people.
